Welcome to the faculty development project commissioned by the Association of Pharmaceutical Teachers of India, APTI. This is a collaborative project between APTI and shikshaX, which is a technology-based academic influencer with proven experience in digital learning environments.

As part of this project, the APTI is offering completely online and immersive learning experiences its members, the learning management system of shikshaX, and is customized for the pharmaceutical profession. The first offering is a foundation course in educational methodology. This course is an extension from the previous attempts made by APTI during the peak of COVID to orient teachers with alternate teaching strategies.

The FCEM (Pharma) is an advanced program both in terms of content and technology to the previously conducted online sessions. It is spread over five modules, and can be completed in fifteen days, with a grace period of five days.

The FCEM – Pharma is a fifteen-day course that is delivered completely online, on multi-modular microlearning model. It has five modules –

  • Introduction to educational methodology
  • Learning outcomes
  • Instructional methods
  • Instructional media; and
  • Student assessment

These modules are rolled out on specific days as follows:

  • Day 1 – 2 : Introduction to educational methodology
  • Day 3 – 5 : Learning outcomes
  • Day 6 – 8 : Instructional methods
  • Day 9 – 11 : Instructional media
  • Day 12 – 15 : Student assessment.

The course starts with introductory video, and a pre-test. Further on, each of the five modules is designed as follows:

  • General objectives of the module,
  • Distribution of module under different sessions.
    • Objectives of each session,
    • Video-based short presentations for each session,
    • Slides for each session,
    • Transcript of the video lecture of each session,
  • Additional reading references for the module,
  • End-of-the-module quiz.

By the end of the course, there is a post-test, and end-of-the-course survey.

Upon its successful completion, you can download your Certificate.

How to take the course:

On the basis of your details provided by the APTI, a unique ID and Password are already generated and mailed to your registered email, that has enabled you to log-in, and customise your profile, with specific emphasis on the way your name is spelt.

As you are already in the course, please read the instructions on how to take the course, and after completing it, click on the button ‘Completed’, so that it can enable you to move to the next level. Please remember to click on the button ‘Completed’ every time you complete a task, so that the system recognises the task completion, which is a mandate to move ahead.

After reading the instructions, you will take a pre-test, which is to assess your existing understanding about the course content, so that when you take the post-test, you will see the difference as the learning that has happened as a result of the course.

After the pre-test (there is only ONE attempt), irrespective of the marks scored, you will be enabled to continue with the course, module-by-module, as per the following flowchart. Each module will have multiple sessions, and each session has a short video-based lecture, the PPT that were used in the video, and the transcript of the lecture. There are some reference links, which can be read either before starting the module, or at the end of it. At the end of every module, there will be a module-specific quiz. You have to score at least 50% in the module-end quiz to proceed to the next module.

Likewise, you will complete all the sessions in every module, and appear for the post-test. There will be five attempts to score at least 50% to successfully complete the course. The best of five attempts will be considered as the exit score. In case someone fails to score 50 in the first attempt, it is advised that they revise their learning, and then attempt the subsequent post-test. The questions in pre-test and post-test will be the same, so as to give an authentic measure of learning that has happened as a result of the course.

After the successful completion of post-test, and the end-of-the-course survey, your Certificate will be ready for download in a couple of days.
